Sample post

Group 2: Carnivores : Thomas, Dan, Stephen

1) Name the group of the food chain you are assigned.
The group of the food chain group 2 was assigned was the group of Consumers

2) Name organisms that make up your group.
Organisms that make up the consumer group in the food chain are any animal. The animals can eat either plants or meat to be considered a consumer. An example of a consumer is a lion.

3) Explain why this group is important to the food chain.
Consumers are important to the food chain because if there were no consumers the producer population would over grow. Consumers help keep the food chain system in balance.

4) Explain why the food chain affects humans as well.
The food chain affects humans because the food chain is where humans get their daily dose of food. If a human was a carnivore, that human would have to depend on the grass growing to feed the cow to feed the human. If the grass did not get food from the decomposer to grow it would not grow. Thus, the cow would not be fed which would not feed the human. The food chain is one big circle that humans depend on.

5) Create your own food chain picture. Make sure each organism is labeled according to which food chain group it belongs too.

Instructions

Welcome to our blog 4th Grade Mad Scientists!

We are going to be learning about new science topics each week in class. Each assignment will help us have a deeper understanding of the topic!

The topic we are going to be learning about is

On this blog we are going to research and discuss the                                     importance of food chains!!

Below is a fun link that discusses more
                           information on food chains!
                             Food Chain Song

The song provides you with information about the three different types of groups that make up the food chain! While watching the video be sure to jot down some notes!

Once you have finished watching the video, review facts about each organism. Each student will then be split up into groups. Each group will each be assigned one organism group from the food chain. Find your name below and the group you are working in. Each group member will be working together to complete the assignment!

Group 1: Producers ( Anthony, Victoria, and Molly)
Group 2: Consumers ( Thomas, Dan, and Stephen)
Group 3: Decomposers  ( Eleanor, Meredith, and Maria)

You can find more information about food chains on the website listed below:

Each group will be assigned to answer the following questions about  Food Chains! Please copy the question to your group's blog post.
**Answer all questions in complete sentence form.**

1) Name the group of the food chain you are assigned.
2) Name and list examples organisms that make up your group.
3) Explain why this group is important to the food chain.
4) Explain why the food chain affects humans as well.
5) Create your own food chain picture. Make sure each organism is labeled according to which food chain group it belongs too.

After completion please submit it to our classroom blog!
                               Have fun!
